Mary Breckinridge and the Frontier Nursing Service: A Legacy of Care and Community Presented by Amy Brudnicki & Micheal J.C. Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · 6:00 p.m.
Join Amy Brudnicki and Micheal J.C. for an evening exploring the remarkable story of Mary Breckinridge and the Frontier Nursing Service. Founded in 1925, the FNS brought nurse-midwives on horseback to families across the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, transforming rural healthcare and saving lives. The presenters will look at Breckinridge’s vision, the lasting impact the Service had on health and community life in Appalachia, and its connections to Pine Mountain Settlement School. Everyone is welcome to come learn about this important chapter of regional history.
