Internships at Pine Mountain Settlement School
Nestled in the mountains of Bledsoe, Kentucky, Pine Mountain Settlement School offers a hands-on internship for anyone passionate about environmental education, Appalachian culture, sustainable agriculture, and community. As a Programming Intern, you'll live and work on our historic campus, gaining real-world experience while helping us carry out our mission — all while building a personal project of your own to take with you when you go.
Starts: September, January, or June
Term Length: 3 months, 6 months or 9 months
Compensation: Paid bi-weekly stipend
Housing: On-campus housing provided
Meals: Some meals provided

Schedule: Varied schedule, approximately 30 hours per week
What You'll Be Doing
As a Programming Intern, you'll work alongside our staff and educators to support Pine Mountain's core programs, including:
Environmental Education
Appalachian Art, Culture & Craft
Agriculture & Sustainable Food Systems
Foraging & Herbalism
Beyond the classroom (and the trail), you'll also help out with:
Community Outreach
Fundraising
Marketing
Hospitality
Archives
Your day-to-day may include leading hikes, teaching K-12 and adult programs, caring for classroom animals, supporting events like Pass It On and Naturalist Weekends, and pitching in wherever the campus needs a hand — indoors or out.
